While we have been in Houston one thing that has surprised me and my spouse is how often we are seeing individuals driving around in electric cars. We have seen cars exactly like the one included in the image of this post. However as we thought about it, neither of us recalled ever seeing such a vehicle in Saudi Arabia.
In fact, big cars remain very popular in Saudi Arabia. This is likely due to the fact that a typical Saudi family is larger than an American family and of course, the price of gas is much much cheaper in Saudi Arabia which deflects the same urgency towards a fuel and energy efficient vehicle. One will see many many Hummers throughout Saudi Arabia but more typically the cars of choice seem to be Land Cruisers, GMC’s, Town Cars and very large Lincoln’s and Mercury’s.
Whereas on the other hand in Texas, while it is the land of the BIG pickup truck, there are always commercials on television encouraging one to be energy efficient and aware of the environment. There have also been announcements on the television which attempt to educate and influence Texans from relying on foreign oil.
