I don't know if world peace was mentioned in the acceptance speech, but apparently the Gyrofocus fireplace took first place in the Pulchra design competition, a beauty contest for pretty objects. No surprise really, it's a stunner.
The Gyrofocus fireplace is classy, simple in appearance and 'rotates 360° so it can be easily directed to face different parts of the room.' It also proves that sometimes there's beauty in the older designs because it was created by Dominique Imbert all the way back in 1968 and beat out 'objects ranging from a television designed by Philips, a Sony Ericsson mobile phone, creations by Philippe Starck, and a Leo Cut diamond.'
